[Chinese Packaging News] A British company called Biome Bioplastics has developed a world-class disposable coffee cup that is made entirely of bioplastics.
The company said in a statement on April 18th that the new product can be completely degraded and disposable cups and lids can be recycled to reduce the pollution caused by coffee cups.
In the past five years, Biome Bioplastics has been working on the development of biopolymers as raw materials for coffee cups, coffee cup lids, and coffee capsules.
Company CEO Paul Mines said that although many merchants will recycle coffee cups, most coffee cup lids are made of polystyrene and cannot be completely recovered even if placed in the correct trash can.
The company said that the coffee cup, after being recycled, will be degraded to carbon dioxide and water after being stored under proper conditions for three months.
